Funny things kids say and do to mermaids

I thought it would be fun to have a thread for this as I've had a lot of funny things said to me.

Today at my gig:

"Is that the little mermaid?"
"no, that's a grown up mermaid"


today at our booking some junior high aged girls thought they'd be funny by trying to pull off my tail. but that thing is on so damn tight, they managed to just yank me away from a bunch of kids- and since I can't actually FEEL the tail I didn't know it was coming. I think it sufficiently freaked us all out lol. Them because they expected it was a costume that would come off, me because I had no idea why I was suddenly flung backwards. and oh yeah, I def broke character and went into teacher voice after that lol..

Something like that would be justified to break character. Kids should be aware that your tail is expensive and that it's your gig. I can understand younger kids being curious, but those in the age bracket you've mentioned should know better.

I only have a fabric tail and i was at the springs and a little boy came up all shy and asked very politely to touch my tail i told him yes and so he walked up and touched both corners of the monofin then suddenly got all excited at proceeded to shake it as fast as he can his mom was so worried he would break it then the boy found the bottom opened up so he stuck his hand down to mess with my feet then left like nothing happened
