Um... hi there? XD

I'm a bit shy sorry, new mermaid here! Wanted to be part of this community for years, finally became a closer reality this year after I took a mermaid-related short freediving course and bought my first monofin. I'm 22, in the UK, having some fun in the water and training to do this professionally if I can in order to bring the profession to my area and live out a childhood dream. And I'm curious about any mers out there with disabilities of all kinds, as I'm on the autism spectrum and a friend who's also training is physically disabled. I say "if I can" due to some major obstacles right now, mostly getting around pool restrictions and financial stuff. But here's hoping!

I currently work as a children's entertainer at parties and events, mostly playing certain popular princesses. I'm also a freelance artist, writer and animator. Always happy to put my skills to use where they're needed! XD

My name might change in the future because while coming up with a professional "brand" I'm reeeeeally not sure about it, so bear with ^_^ hoping to make plenty of friends here and learn a thing or two!

Hi and welcome! I'm also an animator and am happy to hear about another one on here! I've actually got a mer friend with disabilities if you want to check out her merpage: https://www.instagram.com/helenathemermaid/

Welcome!
About disabilities: I have depression and some intense social anxiety. I've found that mermaiding actually really helps me to cope with both. It's a little anxiety-provoking for me to swim in public with a tail because the attention I get makes me nervous, but I feel really accomplished when I step out of my comfort zone in that way. I hope you find just as much joy and strength in swimming as I do!

Oh gosh thanks everyone for the lovely welcomes, it's great to hear about others facing disabilities or conditions while mermaiding and is a real reassurance on my end, and on top of that a fellow animator! :D Hi!

I had speech delays as a kid and my youngest is on the spectrum. He's not a merman...yet but he loves playing in the water...so long as its warm! Cold water he's ok with for a few minutes, but then he is ready to get out and I don't nlame him. He's a bit of a beanpole so his body fat is very low, so he feels the cold sooner.

I think if you have a dream, go for it! And welcome to the Network:)
