Do people put sequins on neoprene? Would you need a second layer? I'm sure I saw it done, but I thought I'd ask too!

Before I got my mythic tail I was sewing sequins onto a neoprene based tail. It was taking forever because I was hand sewing them and knotting after each sequin to minimize loss. I was layering the sequins to have full coverage over the base, but I have no plans to put anything over them. :)

Yes, a few of the mermaids here hand sew sequins onto neoprene. One of the first to do it is Hannah Frasier (Hannah Mermaid on her website) and has created several drop dead gorgeous tails with this method. Evidently, they must hold up well since she performs all over the world and usually does her videos in oceans from Australia to Hawaii to California. However, as any of the mermaids will tell you, the patience of Job is a must.

Ah, patience indeed! I've done a couple things with sequins, and they get frustrating after a couple hours. I can imagine I'd spend a lot of that time listening to audio books and such! ;)
