Ok so I decided to make a little thread on the pectoral fins I'm making for my Merman tai from Mermaid Mazu.
So I'm going to NYC tomorrow or rather later today and to be honest I always wanted pectorals when I ordered my tail but could not afford them so knowing me I decided after playing with caulk a little bit earlier in the day to make some pectorals for my Mazu tail but I was like, nah I can't attach them to the body poperly it'll just be silicone holding on to silicone no connection with fabric to neoprene but I figured a way around that and I'm now working hard to have these pectorals painted and attached by 6:30 am cause I have to catch an uber to be at the Springfield terminal to catch a Peter Pan Bus.

So here are the pics

This is the first one I did and it's way messier than my second third and fourth it was a good learning experience!

Stay toned for pics of upgraded tail.

Better view of how messy the first side I did was but this helped me gage how to sculpt caulk.

Oh I was going to do this same thing when I do a neoprene/silicone tail. Out of curiosity how do you find the tail works on beach sand? I recently did caulk and paint on mine and that stuff stuck like cement to sand making it nearly impossible to get off. :( I figure I didn't wait long enough for it to cure

It handles and holds up just like a regular tail maybe even more strong with the neoprene backing, also minor ware and are easy to fix faith a small amount of silicone

You can add about an inch of fabric at the base of them, hand stitch them on with upholstery thread and cover it with more silicone

I didn't add them I'm making new ones cause these are ugly to me but served as a good learning experience though! I'll keep that in mind if I ever decide to add to this perfection...

If you are going to start over then I'd actually make them from the fabric then cover them in the silicone. I have a little left over neoprene from when I made it if you would like me to mail you enough to make them
