A place for mers to check in and let everyone know how they're doing after natural disasters pass.

Well currently, I am indoors avoiding the smoke. I have had massive headaches for two straight days. The horses aren't doing well either.

Hurricane Irma just passed the DR, where i live.

While the eye was far away from where i am (The capital), there were still strong winds and intense showers. All shops and malls were closed today (Obviously) and schools & universities suspended attendance till monday.

Electricity tended to come and go, but now we have electricity. Police trucks roamed the streets, taking people to shelters. The north part of the country is the most affected, with trees on the streets, intense flooding, and seaside buildings destroyed by the intense waves.

We didn't lack gas, water or food, and Irma is now gone, but fixing all homes that were destroyed is gonna take a while.

The important thing is that everyone was alright, and you are alright.

Irma is almost just south of Florida. Rain that could be from the storm or pushed into Central Florida by the storm has started.

My family isn't evacuating, but we've boarded and hurricane-prepped. See you all on the flip side!

So far, I'm safe. I slept through the initial hit of the storm. One of our windows cracked, but that's the full extent of the damage so far. I suspect I'm in the eye. I did not lose power. I'll give more updates when I can.

Direct hit to Naples. Eye passed right over us. I still can't get to see the damage to my place as the street is flooded and have not been back since I had to leave my place. No AC, no power, cell has light usage, gas still scarce, and water hard to come by. Tonight is the first night sleeping in AC in this miserable heat, thank God. But hey, I'm alive!

I'm happy everyone is safe. I got extremely lucky as the only inconvience from the hurricane was getting stuck in doors.
