So I learned a few days ago that the community college I just started at has a pool, and I'm considering trying to start a club for merfolk. Problem is, I don't know where to begin. I don't know anyone at my school, let alone any mers. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get people interested?

Well, first you'll want to make sure you'll have time to run the club. Depending on how often you plan to meet and how many people will be there (more on that later), it might fill up a lot of time on your schedule. Also, it's important to figure out how many people would be interested in joining the club. See if your college has any method of student advertisement available, such as a bulletin board of an announcement over the PA system. Get an approximate number before you begin. If not many people are interested, it may be a good idea to find some way to show what the club is about. Again, whatever method you use to get the word out could be helpful. Once you have people you know will be interested, figure out a time to meet and make sure if works for everyone.
It's also important to mention that some people may be interested in mermaiding, but not have a tail. You'll need to figure out what to do in those situations. Will you require each member bring their own tail, get monofins for them to use, raise money to buy simple tails, or something else?
