Not sure if this should land here but here goes...
So I know what logo I want to use, but I'm having trouble translating it digitally. My scanner won't accept it and it's pretty hard to doodle with a laptop mouse (figured out that one the hard way lol). Any advice or programs (free is preferred) I could use? Thank you so much!

It depends on what your logo looks like. In general a vector graphic should be preferred because it can scale in any size. Note that you have to build your Logo from paths and geometric shapes which may be a bit hard if you have not done that before.
Examples:
- Inkscape
- Karbon
- Illustrator (non free)
If you want a pixel based drawing tool (the things with brushes etc.), this tools are available:
- Gimp
- Krita
- MyPaint
- Photoshop (non free)

BTW: for drawing I recommend using a graphics tablet. Many graphics tablets measure pressure which can be used by some graphics software to make the used tool to act more natural and its in my opinion easier to handle than a mouse (I usually don't use a mouse - touchpad for everyday use or the graphics tablet when I need precise input).
