Uh oh. So I'm 19 year girl aaand I ordered my new tail recently (arrives the day after tomorrow). It's pretty color and all, I never had troubles swimming in my previous tail (like 2-5 years ago). Now I happen to be.. larger. I'm not like.. (at least I don't think so [read: hope]) mega super sized .. but defs larger than before.

So in its all simpliest: I am now hella insecure. I did get few admiring looks before, but I'm just nervous and thinking of swimming in public, which is my only option, makes me anxious. I don't wanna abandon this hobby of mine, I really love water and diving..

Oh and my breasts are kinda big too, I have no idea where to get bikini top large but supportive enough.


These are small things I know, but I'm.. eh.. Not feeling very well overall, so I just wanted to get this off my chest. :phew:

I'm ABSOLUTELY POSITIVE that you are completely GOREGOUS, no matter what size you are! I know that wearing a swimsuit in a public place can be a little scary, but remember, YOU ARE A MERMAID! Most people would be absolutely stunned just to see a real, live mer, and won't even focus on your size, and if they do, they're just jealous jerks who are trying to find ways to tear you down. Also, there are several companies like Mernation and Merbella Studios that build beautiful shell and silicone scale tops right on your bra for a really good fit and support! You will be fine!! Hardly anyone comments on a person's looks if they are a mother sinking mermaid! Just remember.... you are a mythological creature. Skinny girls can go flay themselves!

Hey, remember none of that stuff matters when you're in the water! Underwater we are away from the constrains and stress of the terrestrial world. I know when ever I am underwater I feel free. Focus on the feeling of being underwater, the cool touch across your face, The feel of "flying" , the quietness. Don't worry about other people or what they might think, just look forward to being underwater with a new tail, because that's what matters :)

There are also plenty of styles to choose from when looking for mer-clothing! If you're not comfortable/don't have enough support in a bikini top, there are tons of other options. I've seen mers do halter tops/sports bra-esque designs, tankinis, and even corsets /one pieces! There's also the option to cleverly use netting/seaweed/mesh to cover up any places you may feel nervous about. I think starting out like this can really boost your confidence & maybe allow you to open up to more styles in the future <3

Special thanks to you Aiera! I have literally zero skills on anything handicraft, but I might consider something longer than average bikini top. Tankini sounds like a lovely choice tho, gotta look into that.

Also aren't there many mers who create tops for all size of merpeople ? Not just silicone, which would look kinda funny with fabric tail.. I'm gonna dive deep into forums, I will find something that makes me confident and comfortable!! 💪🏻
