....Everything would be nonsense.
-- Alice in Wonderland

Hello there, pleased to meet you all! I'm from Canada, subsection Ontario, the land of maple syrup and other...stuff, I guess? Online friends call me Luna, Lun-Lun, Rain, or you can call me a variation of this username. Your probably guessed I'm a big fan of Alice in Wonderland, fantasy in general has an extremely special place in my heart.

I really don't know what should I be posting, but here's a list of some facts about me:

Eighteen years old having my birthday in two months
I'm a cosplayer as well, I really enjoy costumes of any kind
I've been swimming for over half my life, except school has wound up eating most of my time; the pool has never looked so tempting...
Reading makes up a lot of my life; hence, school killing my free time
I'm a terrible procrastinator at times, who needs to study for exams? x.x
I'm always pondering about making costumes, even in class; you really don't want to see my notes at time

Well, that's all I can come up with at the moment, feel free to shoot me any questions if you have any. Here's to my one-day dream goal of making a swimmable Silicon tail; a lot of people on here I've seen around the web when surfacing that I really admire. Thank you for being a model and a source of inspiration!

@ Kae-Leah : Thank you for the warm welcome~! I feel better being able to contribute, lurking feels a bit...weird to me.

@ Lorelei : Haha, some of the best ideas come from sitting in class! That and in the shower? ^w^;

@ Sirena : I'm glad too, I've been browsing for how to make Mertails for a few years now; I'm surprised that I haven't came across this forum before, or it's predecessor. But I'm glad I'm amongst kind, like-minded individuals, I'm glad this community is really kind and welcoming. I don't have a favorite, I found the Disney one to be quite the 'classic', though the Tim Burton Movie was quite enjoyable as well, I like the darker themes in that one. And the dresses... Just...Wow. Do you have a particular preference yourself? :3

Yeah I didn't find mer.yuku until I was looking into the tail I bought on eBay, which I thought was kind of funny.

I love Alice in Wonderland too! Always rather wanted to be one of the rose painter or croquet hoop cards :D

Not especially they are both so different it all really depends on what I feel like at the time. Though I do adore the costuming in the Tim Burton one :)

@ Orca : I've been looking into stores that sell tails, but I'm pretty broke at the moment, and there is always that special connection if you make your own tail, I guess. ^w^

@ Sirena : I have to agree with that for sure!

Tail making never seemed so possible! Was a really exciting time. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the two things that made my year last year were getting my tail, and finding mer.yuku.

@ Orca : Legendary? Wow, I need to go search that up for reference. As well, that's awesome! I saw pictures of your tail, it looks amazing to say for sure. Will you be swimming in it soon?

Will you be swimming in it soon?Heh, yeah....the thing about the thread is the original author of the tutorial ended up deleting it following some Unpleasantness. For what it's worth, there are other ALEX tail tutorials out there/in here (which was a minor part of the problem, actually) but they're all secondary sources now without nearly the detail and record of tests and things. Also getting the sense that we're starting to move beyond the ALEX tail, which I feel is a good thing (even if I'll probably end up doing one anyway at some point, just because I thought it was really cool at the time)

Thanks! Glad you like it! I don't know when I'm going to get a chance to swim in it, though. It still doesn't really fit either, and still needs some repairs.

@ AniaR : Thank you for the warm welcome~! It's a pleasure to be here.

@ Orca : Oh, I see. I think I found one on DA, but it sucks about the unpleasantness. Though I've heard that ALEX was quite...nasty for the skin, but still; I agree it's good that the community is moving onwards I'll check out the Tailmaking thread for sure, it's really kind that people are willing to post up progress records for the rest of us. I really don't have the budget to keep trying and retrying over and over again; my parents would kill me.

Is there a way to fix the sizing of silicone tails?

ALEX isn't good for prolonged skin contact, but contact is going to be minimal since it's on a neoprene base. It's still not the best stuff for you though. The main problem is it's not actually waterproof, so you need to treat it with a marine silicone spray so it doesn't start to break down.

No, there's not really a way to fix the sizing of a silicone tail once it's done, that I've heard of anyway.

@ Orca : Ah, I see... But still, I'll probably avoid ALEX, bit of the sensitive side for my skin at times. Would you need to treat silicone/latex tails though; besides the though rinsing every time after swimming?

Ah, I see, so how do you plan on going about the repairs?
