Are you talking about scuba or something? You don't need a 'license' to do mermaiding. And if someone is charging you money to give you something like this, this might be sketchy. Anyone can be a mermaid, no mermaiding license required.

**it might be a school where you take a series of classes and get a certificate. Keep in mind this is purely for fun though. There is no official license or testing to be a mermaid. I have been doing it professionally since 2013, and I do not have a license.

A business/entertainer license is needed if you plan to go full time as a career. Not exactly sure if that what she meant.

To clarify, are you getting a performer/entertainer business license that you are using for your mermaid business? Because just searching for "business license entertainer mermaid" just brings up mermaids for hire or places offering either mermaid classes or job positions as mermaids for at established entertainment businesses. Where/who is offering this?

Got it. I have 'business license' for my photography, but never got one for my dance/mermaid stuff. That is what anyone gets for any business. When you first said it though you said 'mermaiding license' which is not accurate. A business license for an entertainer is what it is considered, not a 'mermaid license'. :)

I would never call it my 'photography license' .It is just a document that says you are allowed to conduct business.

You would get a business license through the County I believe. Anyone can get one for any type of business. However, I have been performing professional for many years and don't have it for dance/mermaid. I still pay my taxes though, my hubby handles all of it
