" Titanic researcher built the model of Jókai-ship

I will introduce my friend Zoltán Papp (about whom you can already heard about in connection with his Titanic research) now from one of his other profile.
Himself will tell the story, how the Jókai steamer did reborn in a form of a model.

The whole thing started out on facebook, where I shared one of my ship model to sell. This got the attention of my customer, and she decided to order a model from me. One of her relatives wedding would be held on this ship and she asked if I could create it in samll as a wedding present. I search and collected a few pic from the web. I found the gift idea great, and after ca. ten minutes of thinking I said yes to the challenge. I estimated the prjoects time for about one month, so I could build the ships body and its furnitures an accesories. After that I tried to scale everything down in proportion with my own intuition. I was a bit in trouble with one or two accesories, coz I couldnt figure out how should I fabricate it the right way, but luckily the ideas were keep rolling and the workflow was great.

Main facts of the model:

built: from 07. 18. to 08. 05. 2015
implementing: handwork
lenght: 36 cm
width: 5,5 cm
hight: 12,5 cm
materials: wood, metal, plastic and paper
speciality: The first of it's kind with these method of ship-body building. The smallest of all my
self-made and built in detail is a 4 mm binocular field glasses, built from 4 piece. All
accesories made and painted by hand.
serial number: 22015080520
number of fixtures: more than 860 pieces

I would like to tell about my works, that my models, and so my model Jókai aren't made after an exact plan. When I start a project, only the main sizes are clear befor me, like it's width or lenght.
Everything else on the ship is made after photographs and my rule of thumb. I do not use any modeling
or macro-modeling engine. Only ruler and pencil. Because of this all the models are absolutely unique; I also don't write any notes so couldn't even replicate once again the same model. When people ask how accurate is the model, I used to reply: It is as accurate, as an artist's landscape, wich is painted free hand, seated on the meadow.

Very few ships could live trough their 100th annyversary. So the ship Jókai is a true rarity and one
can find a lot in its history. Glorious past, beauty, luxury, abondonment, grenade explosion, sinking and
at last a wonderful rebirth. Actually a 100 years long life.
This wonderful little steamer did its first route in 2nd of june, 1913., means it's more then 100 years old. On 26 may 1945, german military blasting sank it. Even so the ship had serious damage, its been lifted out from water, restored and stood in service again. The name choice was made after the tale-teller, revolutioner and parliamentarian Mór Jókai prpably because he had a villa in Balatonfüred (where the ship served) and himself was a regular passenger of the scheduled steamer lines.
The most shocking event in the little stemers life was when became victim of a flood while being waif.
Once upon been bought for a symbolic sum of 100 forint to operate as a restaurant. Nothing been accomplished from the plans since the money was gone in the first etap of the renovation. The boat switched between owners for more and more money while its condition worsened. After ten years of destruction a sudden flood took the ship away and put on shores under Gyoma city where the deceasing continued. Mihály Ráday draw shipping- and sailing lovers attention to it's sad fate, so this little Mathuselah wasn't lost for forever as the ship Szőke Tisza.
