Hi,
I've been lurking for a while, thought I'd pop my head above the water and say hi. Hi!
Thanks for all the wonderful posts, information and inspiration on this forum. It's such an amazing resource.
I've been practising my dolphin kick, getting better at swimming underwater and spending far too much time lusting over other peoples tails online. I hope to get my hands on a tail of my own (or at least one to try on) at some point, but thanks to the advice on this site and elsewhere I'm not rushing into anything :)

Welcome to our community from the quiet depths of lurking!
It's so refreshing to hear how much work/training you're putting in before getting a tail. Too many people rush into mermaiding and put their safety & this community at risk. However, you set an excellent example of what it takes to get into mermaiding; beyond a simple interest, it is our jobs to do proper research and physical training before getting a tail.
Thank you for being so diligent! I hope you continue your research and training, and look forward to how it pays off when you finally get a tail :)

I know, right? Ever since I discovered mermaiding, I worked on my dolphin kick, underwater safety, etc... it goes a long way, haha.

Thank you for the kind welcomes!
I reckon, as nice as a tail might be, I don't really *need* one - I'm already a mermaid as is :-D
Maybe, if I was fitter, slimmer and wealthier I might be tempted to run out and buy a tail... but I know I have fads. I have hobbies I've been involved with for years (sewing/crafting/LARP etc.) but others I've picked up, enthused over and got bored by in a matter of months. While I've been wild swimming for a few years, and always enjoyed swimming, I want to make sure mermaiding is really for me before investing too much. At least with the training investment I'm getting fitter, so there's long term benefits even if this is a fad!

I hadn't really thought about the wider consequences. Thank you for pointing that out. Yeah, I guess I should think on presenting a good example, especially as there are so few mers in the UK... Eeep! Responsibility!
