I have uploaded photo albums before and I am having trouble as my new photos are too big. They are currently in jpeg format and the file limit is only 19.5KB. Any idea on how to convert that photo to a jpg? The maximum size is 964kb and my photos are around 225kb.

any feedback would be greatly appreciated :)

Someone can correct me if I am wrong, but I thought the site stopped allowing photos to be uploaded to albums in order to save storage.

Oh wow when did that happen? It seems one can still upload photos but certain files have certain size limits. Maybe I should try and delete my old photo albums?

I could be wrong, but it was back when I officially starting using MerNetwork, I think I read it where it was posted by the admins. I really don’t have much of a clue other than that. Apologizes.

Hmmm so around last August. Hey not a problem I appreciate your feedback. Maybe I'll have to look around and see where that was posted. I can add a new album but can't add any photos and its basically telling me the size is too big so just wondering.

I've tried uploading photos to a couple of different threads on here and I keep having the same issue.

I've tried uploading photos to a couple of different threads on here and I keep having the same issue. is it because of the file size being too big?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk so that is on a computer right? I thought there might be a way to do so on a PC. Is there a way to change the format from jpeg to jpg?

Yes. Open paint. Fix the size in resize. Go to “save as” and type a name and type .jpg at the end. Example: Slim.jpg would save it as a jpg

You can also use resizing websites that work well.

it's been disabled because it was bogging down the forum, there was an announcement made.

it's been disabled because it was bogging down the forum, there was an announcement made. hmm that is what I hear, but it seems like now everyone has a limit to what can be uploaded? I notice there are those able to do so recently. I must have missed that announcement as inhaventnbeen on here much until recently

Imagemagick (https://www.imagemagick.org/script/index.php):

convert source.jpg -resize 20% destination.jpg

Instead of a percent value, also a fixed coordinate can be used.
For example, x900 will make an image with a height of 900 pixels.

I remember the announcement. That why it still surprises me that the albums still work.

the announcement said she'd delete the old albums and asked people not to use them whenever possible. I'm not sure they can turn them off totally

the announcement said she'd delete the old albums and asked people not to use them whenever possible. I'm not sure they can turn them off totally so rant makes sense that there is a file size limit each never can use, hence they still work but certain file types only allow certain file sizes and it seems there is a max number of MB people can use. Thank you for your feedback AniaR as it provides a lot of clarity to my questions.

We still plan on removing the albums completely. If we turn them off now it may make it harder to remove them. Removing them turned out to be a lot harder than expected- there doesn't seem to be a place where I can just delete them all. We may have to through and remove them one by one. The other option would be to pay someone to write a program to delete them, which I don't want to fork over a bunch of money that could be used to improve the forum in other ways. It's definitely a shortcoming of the forum software that I can't just delete them all.

So yes- please don't upload anymore to user albums.

To make things easier, why not seen a mass email to everyone mernetwork inbox to delete their albums to help keep MerNetwork server cost in check. It would save you time on the number of albums you would need to delete.
