So January, 2018, is going to be a very rare month. There are two Supermoons happening, the first on the night of Monday, January 1, then a second full moon (Blue Moon) will happen on January 31, and it will also be a Supermoon and there will also be a lunar eclipse of the January 31 Blue Moon.

On the east coast of North America and the West coast of South America the Supermoon will rise around 4:30-5 pm on January 1, so it will coincide with the sunset (at least, in regions north of the Tropic of Capricorn) and it will be possible to get great photos of a huge, heavily-tinted moon against a spectacular sky.

OTOH, if it's cloudy on Monday evening, a mer can always console themself by hopping in the bath with a supermoon bath bomb.

The lunar eclipse at the end of the month will be visible across the Pacific from the west coast of North America to the east coast of Asia, including Alaska, Hawaii and all of Oceania.

Get ready for those perturbations in the Schumann resonances!
