Extending the height of a mythic tail?

Mermaid September recently purchased my mythic tail in medium and has recently realised that it sits very low on her hips
We’re trying to think of ways to extend it and make it a better fit
So far she’s thought of sewing a band of neoprene to the top to add height then adding more scales or painting some on to create a blend.
If anyone has any other ideas we’d seriously appreciate it! As well as any advice on what needles to use and material to sew neoprene together :)

I think the neoprene band with scales might be the best bet for a natural looking transition, though it’ll cost both a bit of time and money.

FinFolk does sell scales on their site, which I figure were the ones you were referring to. 12 scales for $7.50, 50 for $30, and 100 for $55. I would count up the rows and width for how much height you need before gathering your scales.

Thank you so much for your reply! Unfortunately I don’t have a lot of money, so I’ll probably only buy the scales if it’s really the only option.. I do like the idea though, and it does make the most sense. Thank you again!
