V-Shaped Flukes/Monofins & Swimming?

Hello!

Does anyone have a V-shaped fluke, and if so, does it affect your swimming at all? (By V-shaped fluke I mean more like the "Sirena" monofins, and I think the Pirates of the Caribbean mermaids as well. Basically where there's a large space in the middle.)

this is rarely done on monofins because the stress will lead to tears and breaks with this shape.

You can make a tail in this shape if it fits over a (differently shaped) monofin.
There is a chinese mermaid who has a bunch of pretty tails in this shape.
No idea what kind of monofin she uses with them, though.

Yep! Like that one. I know a ton of tails usually have some kind of square shaped monofin at the top, and then just have the tail make the points. (Like you just explained!)

It just seems strange to have a shape like this, as it seems like it wouldn't be too great for propulsion. It looks nice though!

There's a mermaid here that sells custom monofins, she has one style that is the same as pictured.

I forgot her name though... Victoria somebody? Mermaid Victoria?

I use a hydra for my ‘sirena’ stor fluke. As a result my fluke is very long. I get great propulsion in that monofin but I lose quite a bit of it to drag. It looks beautiful in the water though. Very flowy.

I can't remember where I saw it, it was an interview. She said that she uses a Finis Foil and velcro on the Foil. She then makes the fluke extensions also with velcro on it, so that she can use the monofin in all of her tails.

She did make some very nice monofins. She put a video up explaining why. But she did say she would be back. Hopefully they will be available again :-)
