I wasn't sure which section was better to post about a cruise in. Which one do you think is better? I can delete the other.

I would have, but I checked the prices.
For a balcony, your price is about $3000 per person.
At the Royal Caribbean site, the same cruise (but different date) is $1300.
Sure, I'd prefer to go on a cruise with fellow Mers, but not if, for myself and my wife, it costs an extra $3000+.

Well my October cruise was much less since it was during hurricane season, but June is one of the higher fares. Plus I pay all of your gratuities and travel insurance, plus the shore excursion, transportation, photo shoot costs and the costs of the workshops and all the mermaid tails, swimsuits, monofins and swagbags that each person gets, so yeah, it's gonna be more than the base rate Royal Caribbean shows you on their site. When you factor all that in, do you want to look into coming with us?

I didn't know where that was from - I quit using that picture a while ago and got FinFun Mermaid Tails to help me with photos. I will definitely contact them and make sure I am not using their photos anywhere else. I think I got them all replaced but I will double check. Thank you for letting me know. I really don't want to cause any harm or bad feelings.

ehhh.
You try to sell a lot of mermaid stuff (photoshoot, workshop, tail, etc) to the community, but you do not own a single picture with mermaids in it.
Instead, you are using photos of mermaids unaware, and totally unrelated to your business.
Maybe you just didn't get around to making your own photos with your own staff or clients, and maybe that's because you never did anything like that so far.
But it sure looks like just another try to cash in on the "mermaiding trend" which we see around here frequently.

Gratuities are paid for in the basic fare. The cruise industry has been doing that for decades.
I get travel insurance with my credit card.
The shore excursions are nice, but: My wife would be coming, and she has no interest in this hobby. There is no way for me to pay for the full Mer thing, while my wife just pays for the cruise. Also, many times we go on separate shore excursions. This gives us experiences to share when we get back.
The pre-cruise class has no value for me, as I've done plenty of cruises. My wife commented that we could teach the class.
I have three tails and several monofins, including one of the best ones made. I would just bring one of those. (However, I would most likely just take my Finfun. They do wear out, so getting a new one does have some value to me.) Also, a two piece bathing suit is not something I, as a man, would want.
Whats left that you are offering and has value to me is just not worth over $3000.
What would have made sense for me is if I could get the cruise at the same price as from Royal, and then pay you for just the extras I wanted (such as mer related shore excursions.) Also, if, on my last cruise, there was someone on board selling tails, I would have bought one. I broke my monofin on my first swim in the pool.

As far as I know mermaid events shouldn't cost this much. Both links don't work but I'm hoping its a case of her doing some editing on them, and making it look legit.

I think it's less of a case of it being a scam and more a case of the organizer being inexperienced on how to run a group event.

that's just the thing though.
With prices this high, people would be expecting a lot more than what they will probably be able to get.
And if you simply want some tail action on your cruise, you can do that without any of the expensive stuff too.

Thank you all for your feedback. This IS my first theme cruise and I have been learning a lot. I am going to show you the breakdown of the cost and maybe you can help me find a better way to do it. Or maybe I should just scrap it. The first 4 rows are from my booking confirmation from Royal Caribbean.
Base fare for 2 in an interior cabin June 9-16, 2019: $1724
Refundability: $42
Prepaid Gratuities $203
Travel Protection: $120
Wholesale FinFun Tail x2: $55 + tax & shipping
Wholesale FinFun Matching Swimswuit x2 $50 + tax & shipping
Wholesale FinFun Monofin x2 $40 + tax & shipping
FinFun tax & shipping I'm going to guess is around $20
Mermaid Novel x2 with Book Signing on board $24
Shore Excursion in Cozumel or Grand Cayman w/photography $200
Swag Bag with jewelry, brushes, makeup, hair ties, etc. $50
Pro Mermaid and Pro Mermaid Photographer to teach the workshops & shoot photos $2089
My total cost without the Pro Mermaid is $2528. I'm charging $3000.
So with that extra $472 ($226 per person) I can pay for the Pro Mermaid if I sell 6 cabins. Then if I sell 2 more cabins, I can pay for my own travel costs. And if I sell one more I could pay for the hundreds of dollars I have spent on advertising. So for me to make a profit for all the hours I have put into this, I have to sell 10 cabins.
I have tried to make this a really fun and valuable experience for people. I see from the feedback that I've done something wrong but I'd really like to figure it out and salvage this adventure. What suggestions do you guys have? Thanks for your input.

You really should price around with other cruise lines, then. I can (and have) book an interior room for 2 people to Cozumel for $850 with Carnival

To get people onboard, it might help to offer separate courses/activities which can be booked extra or not, like Merman Storm already suggested, instead of having a full package only to pay upfront.
Mermen probably wouldn't want make-up and wig tutorials, etc.
People are more hesitant to pay for a big package if half of the things in it don't interest them.
Best of luck with your adventure!

Instead of calling them Pro Mermaid and Pro Photographer, how bout just having their names there?
Just as an example, if I were a customer, I'd want to know who these Pros are. So I can look up their credibility and evaluate whether the costs are worthy. Another thing I'd look into, is having a budget deal to make it even more affordable for those that don't want or can't afford the full experience.
Refund on everything, if say a customer paid in full but later on during the trip, they change their minds and only want to do a few of the activities. There will be people like that no matter the industry.

Yes, and those prices are VERY high for that itenerary- did the same ones in May (similar shoulder season as October, usually a bit higher because less hurricane risk) for $800/person for a balcony.
Grats should probably not be prepaid, and you should probably offer stepped levels for tails and excursions as many people who are itnerested in a theme likely have their own.
I've not done theme cruise planning but I've done group cruise planning and land theme events- PM if you want to chat about it some more.
