I am working on a sound system that has a mic out of the water feeding a speaker in the water so you can hear what kids are saying while submerged. Is this something that people would be interested in? Answer assuming you had a tank even if you don't yet.

It would be a very helpful tool to have on hand, considering there are in-pool stereo systems on the market. My one concern is ear health for the mermaid inside, as sound travels farther through water than air. Divers have complained of ear pain and distress from getting side swiped by a sonar ping from a sub, so volume would be something to consider.

It won't be very loud anyways as it will be powered off a USB cable so you can plug it in or run it off a battery pack, but one of my first considerations was how to adjust the volume level even from under the water.

I know that Synchro coaches use something similar to talk to their students.

Ahaa, ok, just wasn't sure if that was included with the plans.

The swim team at a pool I would guard at would use one to listen to music...but I don't have 500$ to buy a speaker.
That pool had a small recreational pool attached next to it but the water was fully isolated. Still somehow you could hear the music in that pool too. Kids loved it during swim lessons.

Yes, they do exist.

Main thing you could do that would be good: Low cost.
