Exactly! It's a real pity -- they had a genuinely original idea and the ability to do it justice. I'm sure if they'd honoured Syrena's IP and not involved her or her footage, there would still have been a way to execute it.

Instead they chose that... and discredited themselves, the competition and mermaiding in Singapore in one fell swoop.

The issue is already closed, the team was disqualified and lost the prize money. She's agreed to forgive them and move on.
