Latex/Spandex?

Has anyone ever made a spandex/lycra tail and covered it with latex scales before?
I always hear talk about neoprene but I wonder how a spandex tail would look!

Do you think it'd show too much leg since the material is thin?
I'd certainly think it'd be easier to slip into~

Thoughts concerns?
Advice from someone who's made one before and how did it turn out? :'D

I remembering people asking this before and generally the response was that it didn't work too well. Something to do with the stretchiness of the spandex I think?

I would just be afraid it wouldn't be tight enough and would waft around in the water or something?

Also I imagine it wouldn't be a good barrier between the latex and skin, it that's something to be concerned about. I'd bet it would be particularly unsuitable for Alex.

Well the latex I have I've already gotten pretty close to xD
I use it for face prosthetics! It's not ALEX it's straight up mask latex, so it's
safe for prolongued skin contact. It's not going to be a thick layer, either, I'm
just going to make some latex scales and latch em on, if I even do.
I just have so much latex! I figured I may as well use it on this :')

From my experience, I would think just slathering the latex or silicone onto spandex would be difficult. Neoprene is pretty tough stuff so it works well, but spandex is very loose and stretchy. It would be frustrating.

You think the weight of the latex will make it move all over the place? xD
That's sort of what I'm imagining right now.

Yes exactly. I do all of the cutting for the tails we make and I breeze through neoprene like nothing. This weekend I tried cutting spandex for the first time and had a DEVIL of a time with it.

I just made a neoprene tail and its so annoying to get into xD

Do what we do; put in a dorsal/zipper. It's a MILLION times easier.

I tried that and it just didn;t work at all.
I actually am able to squeeze into the tail but I have to do the mega-hula-hoop dance
for 2 hours before I can get in all the way xD
I was thinking I made it too tight o_o
