What do you use to cut the thick thermoplastic FINIS monofins? A jigsaw?

You could use a jigsaw. And then a dremel.

I used a set of tin snip sheers....we use them a lot for when we build our robots, we use ABS plastic sheeting and it goes right through it, and it would go right through your mono fin... you have more control of it and all...
they will also go through metal sheeting and thick leather so they kinda are a good investment

hope this helped a little

I used a Dremel to cut my MonoFin, although it was a Finis Competitor MonoFin. Here is a link to the finished product, which worked AMAZINGLY well ;D

Aiera, I've seen your video on youtube SO MANY TIMES, and I've got to say, you did an amazing job on cutting your monofin. I always think 'what kind of monofin is that? Is it a finis?' but now I have my answers! I hope you post pictures when you're finally done! I'd LOVE to see it!

P.S.
You move like a true mermaid in the water. So graceful; from one mermaid to another, I am quite envious of you. :)

So glad to have you here! Your video was quite popular on the old forum from what I remember. The way you swim in the water is just amazing- the most like what an actual mermaid would swim like that I've ever seen! Just awe-some.

Oh my gosh MermaidAiera (http://mernetwork.com/index/member.php?310-MermaidAiera) , that is perfect! I have been straining my mind trying to figure out how to get the fluke shape on top of the monofin without causing too much drag. Cutting into such an expensive piece of equipment never occurred to me, but you are still moving FAST, and there would be no complicated additions to maintain a fluke shape.... That is awesome.
