HUNGER GAMES...anyone else a fan?

So I mysteriously disappeared for like a week and part of it was a performance but also the Hunger Games came out. I'm a HUGE fan, having read the Hunger Games book the year it came out and eagerly awaited the release of Catching Fire and Mockingjay so this was an AMAZING deal for me. I went to the premiere and everything and absolutely loved it...it was wonderfully done and scripted and was either a super cool surprise to see or exactly what I saw in my head.

Anyone else a fan?

Just a testament on how big a geek I am with Hunger Games, I not only own all 3 books in hardback but the People magazine Hunger Games special, Movie companion book, and made my own mockingjay pin, and now doing the catching fire pin.

I've never read it myself by my sister is a huge fan, I want to read the books but I haven't had a chance with the million and one things I need to do.

You should sell the pins! But just be careful with pricing them because I know Hot Topic sells them too. But I loooove The Hunger Games. I'm currently on Catching Fire right now. I'm juggling reading that and my Literature class' book (Blaaaah...) They're super addicting. I don't normally get hooked on books, but this series is fantastic!

Yeah but the commercial pins' prices jumped so much when the movie was premiering. But they are hand sculpted polymer clay, so I think the better thing is that I also make the ones on the Catching Fire and Mockingjay covers.

The books are really addicting! Already awaiting Catching Fire movie release Nov 2013. So awesome!

WOO HUNGER GAMES!!!! I just saw it today!!! I have read all of the books too and I also have the special edition People magazine :p. I loved the movie and I think they did a great job. I honestly pictured Katniss much skinnier, being underfed and all, but besides that I think she did an excellent job playing the part.

eeeeeeeeeeee.... see I was a big fan of Battle Royale and I got pretty miffed at the hunger games books since my initial impression is that they were a massive rip off of the japanese graphic novel released in '99...

I saw it immediately after they released the cast list. I'll admit, I didn't pay attention much to the description so I didn't notice but finding that out didn't really shock me. Adjusted my inner vision of the book and went on. But yeah, I saw some people freak out about it, especially Cinna since it never specified. But I LOVED the casting even more than the movie as a whole because each character acted EXACTLY right, especially Cato and Clove. Those two were perfect :)

I haven't read the books but am curious to see how the movie turned out. I'm a huge Battle Royale fan and when I first heard about the Hunger Games I thought that it was just an American rip off of that story, but it's possible that I might still enjoy it since there are a few differences between the two. Also I enjoy movies of this caliber because of the spfx stuff in general.

I am a huge Battle Royale fan (Cosplayed Kazuyo, own a mock up of the collars and just bought the most amazing complete collection that was first released in North America about a week ago) And I know I would never be able to separate the two in my brain so for me to go in it would be a bad idea. Just like when The movie about the convicts fighting to the death for peoples enjoyment, I would sit there and pretty much compare the two and get huffy about how Battle Royale did it first and best. I know that it totally isn't fair to The Hunger Games but I know I could never separate the two so it's best for me not to see it in the end.

I am a huge Hunger Games fan myself! :) I'm currently towards the end of Mockingjay, and I've found it really hard to put the book down! Unfortunately I haven't seen the movie yet. D:

I noticed how much they cut out too but if you think about it, everything they cut out or changed made sense, movie-wise. It saved time and wasn't a major detail...except Peeta keeping his leg. But even that never was important later. I thought the style of the movie matched Suzanne's style so well though, it was amazing.

I hate to disagree, they cut out the whole time they spent in the cave BONDING which is extremely important later on down the road. Also, the mutts looked nothing like the tributes. It's the details that got me I guess. They didn't have to take out so many. A side note, I found it racist that the black tributes came from the harvest/feild work district. Also, I didn't like President Snow. He's a bit round in the tummy area and people of the Capitol found that almost taboo.

Big fan here! LOVED the books, and I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. (I love midnight movie premiers. We played scrabble in the waiting line, and chatted with a group behind us that had a Peta and Gale. :) ) There were two people in our group who hadn't read the books yet, and both said they were kind of confused. But I liked the movie. I'm not sure what I'd think about it if I hadn't read the books yet, but I think as a companion to the book it was really well done.

Jewel, if you do decide to make some pins to sell, let me know! Depending on whether I have funding available at the time, I'd be interested! :)

I loved the casting, I loved the acting.... I just couldn't get into the storyline as much as I wished to because I never read the books. my husband read the first one and told me all about it, so I knew the gist of it.
For me the best section of the story was Katniss and Rue. LOVED that part.
I also liked specific characters for various reasons, but I'm probably biased because of the actors;

Cinna (didn't know who lenny kravitz was before)
and Haymitch. Don't ask me why I like him.

I loved the movie but i was suprised to see how many smaller details they left out. I feel like the small details added up to almost one big part missing. I felt the casting was wonderful though.
