Hai there merfolk!

I am a 17 year old student (that does hardcore studying for a living) from Ontario, Canada. I've always loved the water and mermaids. I remember writing Santa letters asking him to transform me into a mermaid (it was very awkward when my parents read it..).
I took all my swimming and first aid lessons and now I'm a working lifeguard/swim instructor for my city! I wear my guard shirt with pride :). I am also a certified aquafitness instructor so I know some stuff about the body, excercising, and the properties of water. My goal is to make my own tail during summer 2013 (when exams are over!) and to learn how to freedive. I'll keep practicing my breath holding and dolphin kicks at the pool in the meantime! ;)
I found this website today while google-ing how to make mermaid tails and I spent the day just reading through the forums. Didn't really plan on joining as I'm more of a quiet internet reader but the environment here was so welcoming I felt compelled to register. :)

WELCOME i used to be the newest member of this site (i joined on march 21 of 2012) and i can tell you that i still feel pretty new! i know exactly how your feeling right now, and i can honestly say that i joined for the same reasons, i a was also a quiet internet reader and kinda shy too, but after a year of stalking mers through the internet (haha creepy) and lurking around all things mer in the internet i couldn't help feeling out of the mer community which i loved so much, and when i saw how inviting everyone seemed i just had to join even faster :S :3 so WELCOME MIFFY ITS A PLEASURE TO MEET YOU! don't be afraid to interact and ask questions :D

Welcome Miffy! I am new as well and all I can say is enjoy the mer community. They were really welcoming to me. And I was kind of quiet before joining but now i feel involved in the community and i love it.
