The velcro that I've sewed on tightly to hold the fluke skin together keeps on coming undone while swimming in the water... How do I fix this?!!... Helppp Somebody!! https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20181028/51e941239fb54f023f5d0f2f77a3beb1.jpg

Okay, we need a couple questions answered first:
1. Is this a commercially-made tail or a custom tail? (if so, where is it from?)
2. What type of velcro did you use?

I'd suggest swapping to snaps. They hold better than Velcro in the water in my experience.

At the rear of the monofin, the forces on a tail skin tend to peel the two sides of the skin apart. This will most always make velcro fail in that area.
Velcro is not at its best at holding two things together under cyclic loads. Its best at preventing two things from slipping relative to each other.
As Saelyya said: use snaps.

1. I made it myself(hand made) [emoji4]
2. I used regular/ordinary velcro I guess... Didn't know there were other varieties of velcro to begin with!!. [emoji15]

Thanks guys I really appreciate your advice. I was thinking maybe if I didn't snip the velcro into small bits and instead sewn the whole thing along the edge of the fluke skin...then maybe just maybeit would have hold them much better but then again where would be the drainage holes for the water to flow through right?!!... Would it balloon up?!!....Any experience.... anybody?!![emoji15][emoji15]....

I have absolutely no experience, but I'm assuming that when you put your tail on and you are upright, the air will be pushed toward your waist. Open the waistband and it should let out the "mermaid farts" as Jurassic Merman calls them. I don't know tail dynamics, I just know science stuff hehehehehehehehe

With that style tail I wouldn't sew it across. I would use the above-suggested snaps to keep it closed, or water-approved velcro (there is such a thing. :) ) so that you have parts of the end of the tail left open for drainage. It will allow for less drag in the tail, which is extremely important when you're swimming in a moving body of water.

Sent from my CPH1613 using TapatalkThere are marine-grade velcro(s) for use in and with water, but you're better off with small 3-4in zippers or snaps than experimenting with them, because they're expensive. You might try an interior tie system. I saw one once on a tail with the shelf-liner fringe, like one of Hannah's old tails, to hide it and it worked well.
