Do any mers wear non removable collars or similar jewelry that have recommendations for the best metals to hold up to a heavy swimmer's lifestyle?

I like the idea of titanium as it seems ideal as a person with metal allergies.

Thoughts?

Nickel free stainless steel is a low cost option.

surgical grade steel would probably work

^ I Agree with Inanna. I used surgical steel for my snake bite piercings which held up in all sorts of swimming and non swimming conditions for over 7 years. Safe to say it worked like a charm. Being an oral piercing, the surgical steel never irritated my skin either so that was awesome.

Be a little careful here. Many types of stainless steel called "surgical" contain Nickel, which is the element most responsible for metal allergies. Alloy 316L is quite common, and has 8% to 10% of Nickel. Alloy 304 is somewhat lower. But to really get away from Nickel, you need to go to alloy 430.
