Returning NorCal/Central Valley Mer Seeking Advice

Hi all! I'm SumMER Grace and it's been a hot minute since I made my account on this website, then promptly forgot about it!

So here's my intro post, a year and a half late.

Um... So I've been kinda involved in the community since late 2016/early 2017? I don't really remember what brought me onto it, but I assume it was youtube. and by "involved in the community" I mean watching youtube videos, making shell crafts, and swimming my little heart out! I made a "monofin" by ziptying my mom's (much too big for me) snorkel flippers together in summer 2017, and I swam with those or my actually fitting flippers.

I kinda stopped watching mermaids on youtube after I graduated in 2017, but continued my love of swimming, ocean-related crafts, and reading mermaid books and stories. I got back into the youtube scene within the past week, and it's brought me a lot of joy. I'm dealing with a lot of chronic health problems that I've had for a while, but they're getting worse, and I've just been distracting myself with these videos.

I'm gearing up to buying my first legit monofin/tail, but I'm kind of debating a lot of stuff in my head still, for several reasons.
1. I've decided on the fin fun for my first tail, but I also really want the finis wave, which according to my research is a really good beginner monofin and good for building strength, which I need. But I don't know if I should order both or just one or the other?
2. It's the middle of winter and I'm effectively stranded at a teeny tiny college in the middle of nowhere, which means no pool (and I'm still in the process of getting my license so I can't drive to any). I usually just use my pool back home, but I'm not living there right now, and it's not heated so it won't be suitable to swim in until may-ish. So should I just wait until summer to order my tail and/or monofin? I just worry about spending my Christmas money (though it just now occurred to me that my birthday is in april so I can use my birthday money rather than my christmas money to fund my mermaiding).
3. If I do order now, should I have it sent up here or to my parents' house? and what will they say when I order this stuff?

Basically I got back into the community for stress relief, but ended up stressing myself out even more! It's just frustrating to be watching people on youtube doing super cool fishy stuff when I can barely leave my apartment.

Anyways, if there is anyone who has advice or anything, I would really appreciate it! It's hard to get started!
