At what point in a mermaiding career could one be able to class themselves as a professional mermaid? Just a thought.

I a,ways assumed one was considered a 'professional' when one was being paid for a service.

As soon as you are paid for a service you become a professional. Now there are certainly varying levels of being said professional, but that's the same with any field. Personally I like to go with the once you've been paid three times for any given service or product you are a professional, I feel this helps keep people who get paid once by their uncle to do something from walking around with their heads up their butts.

Yeah, that would make sense. I was just curious.

I guess it depends, I've sold my baby koi hundreds of times and would not consider myself a professional. I feel like if you make some money off of it, it can still be a hobby but if you are depending on it for income it's professional. That's not like the occasionally getting paid is nice and offsets the cost of the hobby, like you have two consistent mermaiding gigs a month that you depend on for paying your utility bills.
