View Full Version : Traveling with your Fabric Finfolk?

I'm about to go on a long weekend trip (flying) and I was hoping to bring my Fabric tail with me. My main questions:

1. How do you pack it for a plane ride? Just a large suitcase?

2. After a short weekend of swimming, how do you make sure it's dry for the flight home? Is taking out the plastic inserts recommended / does it help? (I tried and it seemed difficult)

3. How do you store it, generally? Hanging it upside down like on a wall would be beautiful but I don't think the fluke/plastic inserts are sturdy enough to hold the fluke up. and hanging it right side up I'm worried would stretch it as the fluke is large and heavy, without but particularly with the plastic inserts.

I may not bother, but I think it'd be really fun to have for my girls trip!

I travel alot with a finfun. I have a large suitcase for it.
I do take the monofin out when drying it. I just drape the skin over something, usually outside where there is wind, to let it dry. If it is not done drying when its time to pack, it is placed in a plastic bag to keep it from getting everything else damp. When I get to the next destination, I take it out and let it finish.
At home its stored in a heap on a shelf.

Thanks for the insight Merman Storm! Mine's currently stored in a heap on the floor as well. :sad eyes:

When in the hotel room, I would put the tail as close to the air unit as you can get it. Un-zip the fluke and prop it open with a clothes hanger or something so that the air will flow into the tail. I never take the plastic inserts or the monofin out of mine (personal preference/reasons). If there is a ceiling fan in the room, I would turn it on high.

I recently made a video about how I dry my finfolk fabric tail at home:

I'm going to get my fabric tail soon and I don't know how I should dry it either. I don't really want to buy a fan for 60$. Maybe there is a better way which is also free:cool:

Air dry with pool noodles inside if its neoprene.

Spandex is easier to dry, just hang in shade or in the bathroom.
