Midwest Convention proposal

Hi! I’m a Midwest merman and I wanna ask the more experienced Merfolk if they know anything about setting up a convention? I really want to have a con for the midwestern Merfolk because I feel like having an event that lets us connect with others would be beneficial for sure. There would be several free swim events, performances, mercosplay contest, a rave/dance, fashion show, and also a vendors hall,I feel like a mandatory river conservation excursion would definitely be something we should take into consideration to help do our part in the community. The name of the con would be Midwest Mercon. Idk though just a suggestion. Like I said any help/advice would be appreciated for sure!!
