So...What does it take to make a friend on here?

Forgive me if I am wrong, but I feel as if there are so many people that already actively talk and know eachother on here that it might seem like theres no room for anyone else. I for one being new on here felt a very warm welcome upon joining this community. :) I would like to be able to have civilized conversations with like minded people in this community.

However, for those of us just starting out in the mermaid world, we might not always know where to start and who to go to for advice...

Just a thought perhaps?

Personally I have yet to find a way to make friends on here. My only advice is to just be active and as helpful as possible and people will start recognizing you. This doesn't mean they'll become your friend or message you but it greatly helps the possibility.

I think what both Aubrin and Sirena said is true. Just put yourself out there. After time people well start to recognize you and maybe come to you. :)

My advice is to do what you're already doing! :D Introduce yourself to people, start conversations, and get involved with threads in the chatterbox and such where people talk about things other than projects, etc. That's where you'll get to know people!

It sucks that you feel left out, though. I don't see it at all. You've been a very attentive person in
the threads as far as I've seen and those are the best people of all xD
Maybe it's just the initial feeling of not really knowing anyone on here, but soon enough people will
get to know you on a more personal level~

being relatively new myself, I can certainly relate somewhat to the issues here. but I don't think it's unique to this community. I like to think of it more as the 'new kid at school'. Lots of other people have been here for months/years and built up those friendships, and you come in not knowing anyone. For some it's easy to dive in, because that's the type of person they are. Others, like myself are kinda shy and tend not to say much. I often end up trying to latch onto a few people (whether they know it or not), by finding some common ground, and sticking to that for as long as possible. Then I simply reply to posts that person I latched onto posted to. Then as you end up posting, people start remembering your name, recognizing you, and that's where friendships start to take a hold.

All you have to hope for is the person you latch onto isn't someone who rarely posts themselves, or else you don't get too far too quick

lol 2 cents is always appreciated :) Sometimes you got to just pop in your thoughts, I've been the new kid, I just jumped on in and let the current take me..(lol) If you have any hobbies or activities other than mermaids please share, heck we got a "pod" related to those who love Orcas and want to be Orca mermaids/mermen. So im sure there are many out that who share your passions and hobbies as well, even some who are still new and a bit quite. Ive turned into quite the chatterbox after a few months.. ignore me I had way to much swedish fish today

I'm pretty new too,I don't even have a tail yet...someday.... Don't know if I would post piccies though, a 48 year old broad in a tail...lol. It was pure luck and serendipity to find a forum that indulges my oldest fantasy,to be a mermaid...

I think meeting up helps too,fins a pod near you. I met one mer already at an art show,so hopefully I'll get to meet more as I get time to travel.
