Was browsing FB the other day, and a local tourism board uploaded a series of photos showcasing their efforts in restoring the coral in the area.

One of the photos was this one, of a dude with no mask or anything and wearing what I believe is a tail, but could I be confused? Is it a tail? or some weird colored scuba neoprene pants?

Ideas?

Looks like a fabric tail to me! It probably could be neoprene pants but since he isn't wearing a tank or a snorkel and mask, it would be odd for him to choose wetsuit bottoms.

Might just be regular pants that have filled up with water, you can see a drawstring tied in a bow at the front of them, bit idk

I think they look like pants

Oversized pants. In the photo, you can see the left leg is bent up but the right leg isn't.

also your butt would float like a rubber ducky and you'd need a weight belt

I think they're just random pants... maybe he needed pockets... no, wait, that makes no sense...

if you're going to put anything on for warmth (even "warm" water makes you chill after an hour or so) you'd dress your upper half first...

well, he'd make a nice merrow...

If you're restoring coral, it makes no sense to NOT have a mask so you can bloody SEE...

Suspect this is a cute photo op and they didn't have a mer, so they kind of invented one... "we'll just lose the end of his legs and it'll look good"

he makes a nice mer, now get him a tail...
