Fin and Color problem...

Hey guys!
I'm buying my very first tail from Mermaid Parties and I have two basic ideas of the coloring but I have NO IDEA what I want the fin to look like :confused:

I know that I what it to be different and I like the colors of the mertailor tails but I could really use some help :eek:

First, Welcome to MerNetwork!

Do you know what kind of fins you like? Also, have you looked through the pictures she has on facebook of finished tails? I would start there to find something you like. :)

Also, make sure you load pictures when you do get a tail!

Also, just start looking at fish! :) Look at pictures of fish that are in the colors that you want until you find something that jumps at you! :)

I will start with her facebook page tho I just looked and most of them seem to be that basic fin design :/
I wanted your opinion on the coloring I was thinking either a deep blue or more of the goldfish coloring. I wanted it to be original so I was probably going to go with the goldfish but I don't know...

With a deep blue I would envision a tail so dark almost black, but in the light it shimmered blue. Then have a gold-ish stripe running up the sides, kinda melting into blue with shimmery gold flecks all over. I don't know if she can do that but it might look cool. If I was artistic I would draw a picture for you, but I can't :(

that's cool what if I had a gold fish tail (meaning it would be a bunch of oranges, reds, and coral) but I add some gold shimmer to it? then the fin itself could have a blue tint to it? It could fade from the base of the tail to the fin.

I still dont know what my fin should look like... maybe a Aquamarine fin but a bit (i don't know if deeper's the word?)
Like the middle would be longer I guess? haha sorry if I confused you

So I finished my sketches!
This was mt first sketch without any color or anything. I was mainly focused on the fin rather then the rest of the tail (please bare with the bad sketch I'm used to drawing things that I'm looking at haha)

I got my inspiration from both the Mertailor's goldfish tail (https://themertailor.com/boutique/image/cache/data/tail_fish-500x500.jpg) and from this a refurbished goldfish tail by AniaR. I tried to show that in the colored version of my sketch (the different oranges and warm colors) but when I tried to add the blues to it, it didn't blend like I wanted it too (that's what I get for using cheap pencils hahaha)

Long story short what I think I'm trying to do is add blues to this kind of tail and have the fin mostly blues but still kind of translucent like you see in Aquamarine's tail. What do you think?

I like it. When I was thinking of a mostly gold and red toned tail with blue fin I pictured a sunset. With they way it bled from yellow to gold to red to blue. I think it would look cool. Especially since you don't see gold tones with blue.

Its always super hard to choose the colors and design. My inspiration was the mertailor's signature colored tail for the fluke design and the colors were inspired by looking at the colors of the beach here, gold sands, turquoise sea with white and blue skies.

That sounds really pretty!!! I was thinking of going with the Mertailor's signature colors and changing the fin design but I really liked the feel of the warm colors with the blues.

Kinda, my avatar is from winter and most winter sunset are light in color. I was thinking more along the lines of a fall sunset. This one was in October.

I was also thinking maybe I should have mostly blues with the reds and oranges going down the middle and blending into the fin. I would still have the gold tint all over the tail.

Yes! this is beautiful! It's like the blend of oranges and yellow-gold I was looking for. I was just adding a bit more red to it

^ yes I think if I have a tint of gold over the whole thing it will really show in the water :D

I was thinking about what I would do to the back... I wasn't sure if I should have it the same as the front or if I should do something a bit different...
I made a sketch (early warning my dog ate my good pencils yesterday so I was stuck with markers :p the colors would still be the same but I would have them in a different...design if you will)

Eeep! I'm not a fan of snakes. I think they're super pretty to look at and incredibly fascinating, but they creep me out. I had a corn snake and that thing hated me most of the time. He (or she) bit me more times than I care to say. That one does have really pretty colors, though. What kind of snake is it?

I'm not sure what you're looking for when you say more but why don't you trying more vibrant colors? :D not brighter like neon or anything just more vivid (i got like 2 hours of sleep so tell me if I don't make sense :p )

So I sent Stephanie the sketch of my blue and goldfish tail! It got the majority of the votes and I think I ended up liking this one better anyway :D I want to thank all of you for your input and a special shout out to Bellasea :) you helped me so much not just through out this post but all of my threads XD I'll post pictures as Steph sends them to me and when I get my tail :D
