Who do you guys think I should buy my tail from? I have heard good things about both and I talked to both of them and they from what they told me they were around the same price so I was wondering who makes better tails?

Far as I'm aware, Raven's general price is Mermaid Parties' with another '0' on the end. They're in completely different leagues.

Either one of them are incredible tail makers. If you're going for budget, I'd have to say mermaid parties.
on that note, does anyone know how to get ahold of mermaid raven to get on her waiting list for a tail? been wondering that for a while.

also, I'd try checking the tail makers reviews thread. People here post a lot of details on their tails that you might like to learn about and use to help make your decision.

Raven's tails are around 2000+ as opposed to the $200 dollar tails Mermaid Parties make. Also, M.P. tails are Alex over neoprene where as Raven's are pure silicone. So they're extremely different tails.

I got a hold of her through her etsy page: http://www.etsy.com/shop/StrangeCupOfTea?ref=af_you_favitem

Ravens tails are actually 3000$ as she's unable to get the materials in bulk. I can't speak for Raven, but I know she has a waitlist a mile long and will be stopping making tails soon for a period of undertermined time as she'll be too busy. I say, go with mermaid parties and see how you like it. if you still want a Raven tail you'll have plenty of time to save up.

The best thing to do is follow her Etsy on FB as she makes announcements every time she's able to take on another tail. I think she gets dozens of emails a day about tail inquiries and cant reply to them all.

Like everyone else said, they're 2 completely different styles of tail.
Mermaid Parties seems to do commissions very quickly I have no idea about Raven since she's never
formally said anything about making tails.
If you're going for pure silicone maybe you should try Merman Jesse?
His tails are below $1k and they're very attractive looking as well. Can't beat that price in silicone.

Thanks AniaR I think I'll do that :) and thanks to everyone else for your input! Now I just have to figure out my sketch here :p

I'll do whatever it takes to get a Raven tail. She's such an inspiration.

I hear you on that one!
Try to get a hold of her on FB. She said a couple of weeks ago that she would be taking another tail order, but I don't know if it's filled yet.

If you're willing to spend that much money on a tail it might be more fun to make your own.

RAVEN! I would order from Raven in a heartbeat for a professional tail.
I love Stephanie over at mermaid parties, and her tails are beautiful and unique, not to mention she make the monofins inside, but Raven's Tails are SO BREATHTAKING and REALISTIC. If I had the money and already had my baby in my arms, I would order from Raven.

And that is why I would rather spend 3K on a raven tail than make my own. I'm no professional tail maker by any means, and with me finishing school and starting 2 jobs that I'll be working every day, I won't have the time or energy to make my own silicone tail.

I would go with a Raven tail. Personally I think they are soo worth the money and the wait. I plan on saving up to get one someday. :)

my tail from Mermaid parties turned out pretty epic. and yeah i'm sure if i had shelled out the money for a tail from raven it would have turned out hella better but
i think mermaid parties does just wonderful for their price range they give for those of us who don't have 2000 to shell out being in a recession and all
I am happy as hell with my tail from mermaid parties and intend to get another one once i can.
but yes if i had the money i might go with a mermaid raven tail

I agree with you Prince Calypso. I am still 16 so I have all of school to save up for a Raven tail :) I think mermaid parties is a good first tail for me I thanks everyone for your input because I definitely see both tails in the future  I just think Raven might be a bit in the distant future

Unless you're into making one yourself (not everyone's cup o' tea) it's best to get both. Mermaid Parties now and Raven when you can.

Also what are you going to be using it for?
Do you live near the ocean / is it warm enough for you to go swimming everyday? Or do you live
in a landlocked area or only go to the community pool every few weeks or so? Do you have a job
as a professional mermaid that requires you to be in your tail every other week?
If you're going to be using your tail constantly, Raven would be a great option. You'll have to spend
a lot of money but you'll get your money's worth. A durable, long lasting tail that can stretch and
fit you even if you get bigger.
If you're just looking for something simple to just have fun in, Mermaid Paries will do nicely. They're
cost efficient and they look awesome too! They also seem to get to you very quickly in only a couple
weeks.

I live in Chicago really close to the lake. I know a bunch of places with pools (including friends) and I am trying to get a gig at the aquarium. I think Raven would be a beter option for me when I'm a more solid mer because I just starting out

What Alveric and Calypso said.
my first realistic tail (if I fail at making one myself) will probably be from Mermaid Parties.
But I WILL have a Raven tail someday.

I saw your tail on her FB. I gasped it was so pretty!
Personally, I would love to get a Mermaid Raven tail. But I want to get a tail from every tailmaker in the world. Besides Mertailor. I couldn't tell you
why, but I just get the heebie-jeebies from him.

Yeeeaaah, I wouldn't suggest mertailor either. I don't know about his silicone tails, I've only heard good things, so maybe they're really great. But his latex ones are a majo turn off in terms of me wanting to support his business.
