Making scales to sell by the sheet?

So here's a thought-

Has anyone thought about offering to cast scales for other people who don't have the space or technical knowledge for the process? I'd love to make my own latex tail someday, but I feel like if I made molds and such, they'd only get used once once or twice and would sit in the basement forever. I've seen some pretty nice molds on here, and I feel like it would be pretty awesome to see some extra use from those beauties <3

Can anyone think of any reasons why this might not work out so well? It might be a little tricky figuring out how much to charge for the latex used in the process, though I suppose you could charge by weight or something.

I was planning on doing this if I went to with world mermaid awards to vend. I still have a few sheets casted up Ive never used.

It'll certainly help people who don't feel like making an entire mold box but want to make their own
tails. It also saves us from having to get 3 gallons of latex xD

If someone did this, I would buy a lot. My friends all want silicone tails and I've been sketching up ideas while I study up on how to work with silicone. My tails would be so much easier to make if I had sheets of scales I could buy. :)

The boyfriend and I are just working out the kinks with our process before we start selling them...we should do some in silicone too, for funsises :B

I'd be interested in sheets of scales as well! I have SO many ideas, but not the space to be able to build molds and cast from them myself. Being able to buy sheets of scales SO needs to be a thing in this community!!!

Would these scale sheets possibly come with a short flyer of information on how to use them? Just a page with some diagrams or something, to make the sheets easier to use.

That would be pretty useful. Just a few tips on care and tail constructing, for those of us who aren't as knowledgable in the ways of silicone and such.

I would think that fluke sections could be made to sell also with the sheets. Have options like 4 different scale patterns and 4 or 5 different fluke types.
I'm hoping some one gets on this asap.
Its a market that needs to be tapped.

I think that you should do different scales like circular or diamond and should be sold in different colors too!

The only problem with selling scale sheets would be the seams. If you're selling silicone sheets, you would have to send extra silicone and instructions so that people could put their own tail together. Personally, I'm not sure it's worth it to sell scale sheets for making your own tail. However, I think it's a wonderful idea if people intend to make clothes (by sewing the silicone) or for scale patches and such. By the way, if anyone is interested, I'd be happy to sell anyone silicone scales. :>

Agreed with the scale page he person who have not enough knowledge about the short fly information they must visit that page sheet which is very helpful for those guys...Add more pics into it hope these all are also more helpful...
