Kelp and Jellyfish twice a day?

Would you/ do you put anything on your tail to make it slimier for either swimming or effect (when meeting kids, performing, etc.) If so what do/would you put on it? Would it be safe for the tail?

First thought is petroleum jelly, though that would get every where and might ruin fabrics and pool chemistry. Perhaps you could try a spray used for snow shovels that has silicone and wax in it to make the water shed and look slippery, though if you are trying to look like a real mermaid I suppose the woman part might look slimy like the fish part or else one would get all pruney:)
