My first tattoo is the Deathly Hallows symbol from Harry Potter.
I’d wanted it ever since fifth grade, when the last book came out. I remember crying my eyes out in class, getting scolded by my teacher and mocked by my classmates for getting emotional over my favorite characters’ deaths.
“It’s not like they were real or anything!”
But I grew up with those characters, and they were the closest thing I had to friends when I was a kid. I decided after I finished the book that I would get a tattoo in honor of the series that made up such an important part of my childhood.
