I’ve not seen or heard of a single other merperson in Western Australia in years, aside from the occasional event like the mermaid tank at fringe, it’s like Perth/WA merfolk have gone extinct. Am I the only one? I haven’t had a pod or even just a mer friend to swim with since I was 15, 15!! I’m 21 now, lonelier than ever. I feel like I’m the only merperson left out here. I’ve noticed the community as a whole, globally is much much smaller too. The hype and fad around mermaiding has been sadly dying, I think a major reason is the rise of cringe culture. You never see people making mermaid YouTube series anymore, you there’s so many inactive mermaid accounts and threads across the internet, some older tail companies don’t even exist anymore. It makes me so sad, I wish this community was as lively as it used to be. Please tell me there’s at least one other person in WA out there?
