Mertailor Latex tail photoshoot?

Hi everyone,

I wanted to do a photoshoot in my realistic Mertailor tail, but is this a bad idea? I already have some paint coming off in a couple of spots and I'm worried how it would hold up to a photoshoot on the beach. Has anyone else done a photoshoot in this type of tail? Any tips? Thanks!

I think you should go for a photoshoot regardless~
They're really a load of fun. If anything you can try to re-paint the tail up a bit just before the shoot
and if anything really bad shows maybe you can just edit it out over photoshop?

The thing I recommend most with mertailor tails is to invest in some of the paint and a heat gun yourself. Since the paint isn't mixed in with the latexand is instead on top it'll rub off no matter how careful you are. The paint isnt too expensive and either is a heat gun. When I would do photoshoots, I would paint it before, then come home rinse the tail off and use a SOFT bristle brush to wipe away the sand that gets stuck everywhere and the flaked paint pieces. Let it dry, then repaint. After the paint is done use the heat gun all over again :)

It's frustrating for sure, but if you spend your whole time worrying about the paint coming off you'll never use your tail! You bought that thing to use it woman! and like Kanti said, photoshop is good. I had a line on my fluke that was always the first thing to come off paint wise, so I ALWAYS had to photoshop it.

Thanks guys! Yea I was going to buy some paint anyway for touch-ups but was also thinking about adding another color or two to my tail. What kind of heat gun would you recommend? Would a hair dryer work or is it not strong enough?

I tried a hair dryer and didnt find it strong enough, I think heat gun is best from my experience

Yeah, the paint is going to come off no matter what you do! Buying paint and a heat gun is a really good investment! Plus you can change the paint to give it your touch and creative spin! Dark seams is a popular way to give the tail better coloring and to make the seams less obvious. Also I did a shoot on beach rocks and not a lot of my paint came off, at least not as much as I expected it to given how much comes off when it scrapes concrete! I put on and took off the tail on a yoga mat and that helped keep damage down and helped with traction as well. When I moved I tried not to skid on any part of the tail. Rolling over and flipping on my stomach and what not, and even inching like an inch worm a few times :P I wanted to move into a pool that was several feet away, so I had my husband pick up my fluke and I walked backwards on my arms over to it :P
