I was going to buy one of his Metallic goldfish latex tails but now idk b/c i keep hearing really bad reveiws. but for 500 thats not too bad for a latex tail and i dont have time to make my own . I am now getting on from Mermaid Parties which i love stephanie w/o ever meeting her. but my fiance likes the look of the mertailor tails and wanted to buy me one but now i relly dont know i dont want him to spend that much money to have something peel away the paint 3 days afteri use it and not look good. i love the look of his flukes the waved look atleast how they look in the pictures but now im a little undecided if i should tell him yes or no.

why dont you wait and see how you enjoy your mermaid parties one? Personally for me, I had a bad experience, a few people on here recently have had bad experiences, and I do get people emailing me or commenting on youtube/tumblr etc with bad experiences too :( Also if there's an issue he tends to take a really long time to resolve it if he does at all.
You must have tail fever though! Heh. Wait and see what you feel like after you get your mermaid parties tail :)

I just got my Mertailor tail! In my review I stated I would recommend his tails...with the knowledge that you MIGHT have a long wait and you MIGHT have to pay a little extra to re-size or paint touch up. With that being said...I can vouch that on my tail the craftsmanship of the tail is good. You are making a big purchase and should make sure you are ready to handle the possibility of unforeseen delays or hiccups. Congrats on being one step closer to getting your tail! Hope my 2 cents helps in someway!

I personally have experienced a longer wait time than advertised by the Mertailor. I ordered March 4th and still haven't received my tail. When I ordered, production time was stated to be between 4 and 10 weeks. Then it changed to 5-10 weeks. Then it changed again to 6-12 weeks. This week made 12 weeks, and I'm concerned my tail is going to be painted the wrong color since he mentioned in an email to me that he had just received his purple paint (I ordered a black tail). I'm thinking maybe he uses blue as a base, and paints over with purple to create a shimmery black effect, but I have no idea. :)
Also, don't be surprised if Eric doesn't always answer emails promptly (if at all) or provide updates. He is very busy. :)
I love my Mermaid Parties tail, and Stevi has been amazing! :D I ordered it in April and received it last Friday.

I'm just going to be really blunt here and say order from Mermaid Parties.
Stevi is an AMAZING girl. She's almost always in contact, you'll get a reply from her in a day for sure. Her tails take around three weeks or so to be made. She invests in quality in her tails. She really really REALLY cares about her customers like you wouldn't believe it. I've heard nothing but good reviews from her (And I follow her tails and work very closely). She's been so amazingly kind to me in emails too.
The Mertailor, just isn't that reliable. I mean, you're risking a poorly made tail. And for the money you're spending you should get the best of the best. I know Eric sometimes uses neoprin in his tails rather than neoprene. Neoprin is basically a knock off of neoprene. His tails are rushed and are known to come in bad quality. Not only do you risk a poorly made tail, it's going to be, like said before, almost 10 weeks before you get your tail. You can pretty much kiss the summer away of swimming in your tail, that is if it functions properly. I hate to really bash the guy but, you need to make good products and care about your customers to win my respect.

I think with Mertailor there's always a risk factored in there.
I think Raina has the best idea, you should probably get a Mermaid Parties tail first and see how
that holds up and how well you like it. Then at least you can HAVE a tail while you wait for your
Mertailor tail if you do decide to get it, since I assume you won't be getting it very soon after you
place your order.

I have heard alot of bad reviews about the latex tail from the Mertailor, but recently Eric is starting to put more care and effort into them. Just because his latex tails have flaws doesnt mean his silicone ones do. I never heard anything bad about his silicone tails..other than the price. xD I hope you enjoy your Mermaid Parties tail though! :D

yeah I dont think she's thinking silicone, she was considering latex. I have heard complaints about silicone, and a member of the forum got a full refund because hers was see through and unswimmable- so it still happens. I find people just dont post complaints because they know he'll call them out on his FB or before his boyfriend was banned try and harass them here. All I know is my tail doesnt have "Artistic flaws" (e.g mould issues) isnt see through, doesn't chip, and the fluke doesnt full up. All complaints I've heard about the silicone that some people who own them will tell you if you message them privately. Personally, after all the times he's been "putting more effort in" only to come right back to the same issues, I just wouldnt suggest it.

I paid $500 for my mertailor tail and it's crap! I feel I wasted my money. Didn't even last through 3 swims before paint came off and latex chipped off and he didn't use real neoprene like he advertised. Talked to him about this and he wasn't going to do anything about it. I was nice to him in every message but he was rude and didn't seem to care since my money was already in his hands. The tail was poorly put together. The latex is smeared all over the place and has globs in spots. The scales go way too far down the fluke. The thing stretches around the waist everytime I wear it so I have to take it in after every couple swims. He didn't do any customizations I asked of him even though he said they would be done. I asked him to make the fluke tattered and it wasn't when I got it. He offered no care instructions or extra paint in case it chips. Latex is very thin and you can see the material right through it in places. Fluke fills with water because it's hollow and looks bulged when swimming (which in his videos and pictures of mermaids the fluke isn't hollow! so he false advertises) and theres no way to get out of the water once you put it on and get in the water because its so full of water. I tried lifting my fluke up out of the water and almost broke the monofin because the water inside made it weigh like 20 pounds. What you see isn't what you get. He said its too be expected for such a cheap price. So for the past 2 years I've been looking for a new tail maker and found an amazing one. Can't wait to replace this tail I have. I'm embarrassed to even wear it anymore. Oh and if you complain to him about problems he black lists you to make sure you don't get a tail from no one else. Thats why I had the hardest time finding a new tail maker. Back when I purchased from him there were no reviews out there about him because I looked. It wasn't until after I got the tail and saw how bad it was that reviews came out. Be Warned!! This was my experience

Would you be interested in writing/adding your review to the "Reviews" section of the forums? The Mertailor section is here: http://mernetwork.com/index/showthread.php?1227-Mertailor
Also, good luck with your new tail! May I ask who the maker is?

yeah I had the blacklisted experience too when I had all the $$to go with another tail maker, who never replied to me and then made a public FB post about it and deleted it. But yeah, you should post a review.

I'll copy and paste it there since he has no clue who I am. Saving up for an AMAZING raven tail!!! Following in rainas footsteps. Both had similar experiences. Glad she got her tail. Once I know how much her ankle/pectoral fins are then I'll know the exact amount I need. I know I for sure need $3400. I'm sooooo excited!!!! Then I can have some professional photos taken too!

I just hope everything continues to go well and no one screws it up for me. That's just a mean thing to do. Crush someone's dream by talking crap that isn't even true! I wanted to cry when I thought I would never be lucky enough to get the tail I deserve and totally need. I miss swimming with those kids. They miss it just as much. Looks like it'll be November. If everything goes well and nothing happens that takes the money away. I hope lady luck sits in my lap long enough! I wants this tail so bad I don't know what to do

Thats a shame how his tails are having alot of issues. Despite how they work, I still find them beautiful. Its a shame it isnt really any good after a few swims. But luckily we have Mike Van Daal and Raven! yaaay! :D
