Hmm I wonder if I'm just crazy or if this is actually how people do it xD
Anyway, I just wanted to know if you guys remove the back/strap that holds
your foot into the monofin when you insert it into a tail?

I made a neoprene tail and it's so damn tight that I found I just can't even get my
foot in without completely removing it. I guess it's not so bad since the tightness
of the tail basically holds my feet in place xD

Am I just lucky or is that how everyone else does it? o.O

I'm really glad you asked this question Kanti! I have been wondering this too... So since you've had to remove the straps, does it still swim as well? I would think so if it's tight enough, but does it slip around alot more?

It actually doesn't. The main problem is the bunch of extra fabric around my heels that
sort of messes with things but if I manage to straighten it out for the most part then it
basically stays in place. Sometimes it slips down a bit but I can still swim with it.

It's a bit ghetto, hence why I think people probably don't do it that way xD

I ask this question in my Mixed Media tail question and was told that most remove their straps. They just make sure the neoprene is tight enough to hold it in place.

see, i'm terrified to destroy a 180$ fin i JUST BOUGHT by cutting the straps off to fix the problem off fitting. does it really work without them? i would also think that where the strap was removed the rubber would rub and cause blisters.

when I doing a dry event I just take of the straps of my Finis (wave) monofin, but for events in the water or for practicing I leave them on.
