Hi fellow mers! My name is Marina and I am fairly new to this network. I am so pleased to be able to communicate with other merfolk and I thank you all for the wonderful threads about tail making and other discussions.
I dont think there are many mers in the UK - I only know of one other (from Devon) so it would be great to speak with you all on here.

Am just about to start on my 3rd mermaid tail so I cant wait to share my progress with you! You are all an inspiration!
mermaid blessings to you, Marina xxxx 00ooO0ooo

HI - yes I have made a lycra fabric tail (my first attempt) and also a neoprene tail with sequins. My third tail is hopefully going to be neoprene with scales (Hannah Fraser style) and am currently looking into latex. I have bought all my sequins now and they are amazing! I just need to get some more neoprene now :-)

Welcome Mermaid Marina! Nice to see another UK mer. I'm originally from Newcastle up in the north east :) 3rd tail? Wow, that's pretty cool. You'll defiantly find loads of advice and tips through threads on making tails and painting them here. And everyone's super friendly.

There are more mermaids in the UK than you might think.

I should know because I happen to be married to one of them.

The tail in the image above is very nice, particularly the combination of the material and the shape.

Thank you for your comment too - what kind of mermaiding things do you do in UK? We ought to organise something for all UK based mermaids!!

I am a mermaid tomorrow in Poole for the Harry Paye pirate day, I have a parade next week, but I am just starting out and getting my costume together but I have a lot of things in the pipeline i hope! A meet would be great, here's hoping this county will give us a some sun this summer and we can do it!

We're located in the rugged hills of South Yorkshire, where men are men and mermaids are limited to mill ponds and reservoirs.

Welcome to the site! :D Your tail is beautiful by the way. What part of the UK are you from? Are there a few places to swim (with tails)? My friend is from the UK and she wants to get a tail sometime, but doesnt know where she could swim at. :<

Hi! There are not too many places problem is water is soooo cold here. I normally ask at the local swimming pool and see if they can set something up. They used to give me my own lane as I was wearing my monofin so that was fine. Also I have a pool at home so I swim there xx just been to 3 wishes fairy festival by Karen Kay who owns the mermaid and mythology magazine and it was great! You have to come next year!
