I have always wanted a hydraulophone (http://funtain.ca/hydraulophone/index.html) : Video (http://funtain.ca/nessievideo/Nessie_4min_1000kbs.mp4)

What other sorts of instruments might be played in or under the water?

Hmm... I wonder if you could do a variation of the Glass Armonica in the water. Also, mermaids are traditionally shown with harps or lyres... is that actually possible?

I'll hop in my pool with a "canjo" and find out ;)

I completely forgot about the Underwater Music Festival (http://www.scubatribune.com/florida-keys-annual-underwater-music-festival-2012) - VIDEO (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L98POuwZ_Vg)

But that seems to be folks pretending to play instruments.

There's always the Sea Organ of Zadar (http://www.oddmusic.com/gallery/om24550.html) ( VIDEO (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t6YVIfRYTMM) ), but that's hardly portable.

I would love to have an ocarina. Also, I've dreamed of playing the accordion for a long time. It's music to lure in the sailors. ;)

When I lived in Hawaii I used to mess around with the ocarina a bit. I have a friend who is learning accordion now too, in NY, and lets me play with it (I have no idea what I'm doing since I'm music illiterate).

Drat. I didn't hear about this years Underwater Music Festival (http://miami.cbslocal.com/2012/07/14/divers-snorkelers-flock-to-keys-for-underwater-music-festival/) until after the fact.
