I am writing this thread so everyone can see what I have experienced in my Mertailor purchase. My order was received on March 4th, 2012. My payment posted to my bank account on March 6th, 2012. It is now June 24th, and I still do not have a tail. I have been waiting 16 weeks, with round about answers and a shipping date given well past stated production time that was not honored. I have been patient and understanding, but at this point, I can be no longer.

This is my story.

This first picture shows an overview of the emails sent and received between Eric and I. You can see which emails went unanswered, and how many times.

I first contacted Eric in January of 2012. I had a few questions, but wasn't ready to order until March. This is where I will begin.

At this point, I was confident in ordering from him, despite hearing a few bad things. So, I placed my order on March 4th, 2012. I put my paint instructions in the notes with my order -- I wanted a black metallic tail, with silver inside the fluke. He stated this would be done free of charge.

I noticed that the date stated "04/03/2012." To confirm the correct date, I emailed Eric.

On March 19th, still excited about my tail, I wanted to know where it was as far as production, and if I would be receiving it in a timely manner. I also asked for care instructions.

http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e139/xraivynnx/Mertailor%20Experience/email4.jpg

I decided that I would give him some time to work on my tail, since he didn't answer me on how far along it was. I assumed he hadn't had the chance to begin yet, and was giving him some time to work. I decided after the fact that I might want a matching top, and emailed him to see if it was too late to order one.

I never received a reply to this.

I waited until April 15th to send another email.

http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e139/xraivynnx/Mertailor%20Experience/email5.jpg

This went unanswered as well.

I was getting frustrated, but I knew he was busy, so I emailed again on April 24th.

Again, my email went unanswered. It has now been over a month since I have heard from Eric regarding the tail I ordered on March 4th. I was trying to professional and polite, but firm at this point.

It has been 2 full months since I ordered my tail, and I STILL haven't been given any assurance that my tail has even been thought about.

That email also went unanswered, so I waited until the next day, and changed the subject line of my email.

Finally! An answer!!

http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e139/xraivynnx/Mertailor%20Experience/email9.jpg

I was satisfied with this for awhile. But, notice he still did not answer the question about the status of my tail. He also never emailed me back that Monday.

On May 31st, I again emailed him because I had been waiting for a long time. June 3rd marks 3 months.

I am also hearing rumors of the latex product being discontinued, but these have not been confirmed. But here is the response I get:

http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e139/xraivynnx/Mertailor%20Experience/email11.jpg

Why is purple paint necessary for a black and silver tail? I wondered, and asked.

http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e139/xraivynnx/Mertailor%20Experience/email12.jpg

This email went unanswered. I became worried that my tail was going to come painted the wrong color, if it was even coming at all.

After two whole weeks of silence, I finally became upset enough to email again. I am tired of waiting. I am no longer excited about my Mertailor tail. I ordered a tail from Mermaid Parties on April 21st, and received it in May. That's another story, but I'm using the reference -- I've already ordered and received another tail, before this one even arrived! So, I sent this email:

http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e139/xraivynnx/Mertailor%20Experience/email13.jpg

I FINALLY GOT A RESPONSE. Now that I've been mean, I finally get some attention. And prompt attention.

At this point, apologies are not really flying with me. I saw the images of the SILICONE tail he was making for a client that was black, silver, and purple on his Facebook page. My tail was LATEX. I had to admit, that despite everything, my tail being made from the materials used when I ordered was fair business practice. So I gracefully accepted that I am still getting the product I originally ordered.

http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e139/xraivynnx/Mertailor%20Experience/email15.jpg

I thought this was also fair, and he was being polite at this point still.

This was the last time I have heard from Eric. On the given shipping date of June 22nd, he posts this to his Facebook:

http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e139/xraivynnx/Mertailor%20Experience/dayoff.jpg

Seriously? I was given that day as a shipping date, and when he ships his products, he also sends a tracking number. I did not receive an email to say my tail wasn't shipped, nor did I receive an email with a tracking number. So, on Friday, I sent this email:

http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e139/xraivynnx/Mertailor%20Experience/email17.jpg

I have not had a response.

On Saturday, after months of being jerked around, I filed a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau, requesting a full refund due to never receiving a product paid for. I can't file a dispute with my bank because there is a 60 day limit on filing disputes.

June 24th marks 16 full weeks since I ordered my tail from Eric Ducharme. Current stated production time is 6-12 weeks. When I ordered, the stated time was 4-10. He has had plenty of time to make my tail and ship it to me.

Will I order again? Of course not. Will I recommend him to anyone? Not a chance. Will I bash him? No. I simply wanted to be treated like a human being who gave someone $567 of their hard earned money, expecting a product in return.
