I can't believe I managed to pull this off as well as I thought I could of. Yay!! Here's my first top I've made!

I was a little upset when I walked into Michael's and went to the sea shell area. Now, I live in Florida. We have an abundance of shells. I mean you can walk outside and dig a hole and you're bound to find some. And there was so little to pick from. There were NO lion paws at all. So sadly I decided to make do with what I could find. I went home with a bag of shells, fake plants, fish netting, and E-6000.

Then when I opened the bag of shells the two I was going to use were disfigured. They were flat unlike normal shells. One of them was "alright" so I used that one and another shell I had found a long time ago on the beach. I knew they would mismatched now, but I figured it would give it a more "natural" look to it. Surprisingly that was the hardest part for me. I just started gluing and adding some old necklaces to it and viola! Three hours later and I finished. It dried pretty quick too!

Very nice! I'm a fan of the different shells. I think it adds something to the top.

Thanks!! :) I really wish I had bigger shells. I thought since I have pretty small breasts I could get away with it. It looks a little awkward with the size. But I might add more plants to cover spots up.

You might try adding some smaller shells underneath? Or colorful stones?

That really does look great, I think. It has a very natural look. :) I've been thinking about doing something with those kinds of shells but didn't know how it would turn out looking, even with my tiny chest, since I have them on hand. Good job.

I'll have to do that. It's so awkward gluing shells X_x stones would probably be so much easier. And thank you Treasure! :)

Really pretty! I like having a different color/type shell on either side. Just as a tip if you still want to make a top with bigger shells, I found a big bin of lions paw shells at our local giant beachy souvenir shop...I hadn't thought about looking there but we were walking past the shop and the bin was outside. So, might be a good place to look for the bigguns :)

It looks great! That's weird you couldn't find Lions Paw shells though, cause I found them just yesterday at Michael's...and I'm in Texas. There were two seashell sections at my Michaels, one in the actual aisle and one like on the side of the aisle

It's so weird you say that! I was driving the day after I made it by a beachy souvenir shop and I was like, "I should check that place..." They would probably have other cute decorations too.

I have no idea :( I seriously looked everywhere. They had some but it was one per huge bag of shells for $20. And I just wasn't going to pay that. They had like three shelves on top of each other for it. I was like "Really? I can find more at the beach down the road then here..."

That happened to me when I went to my World Market up in Chicago... :( tho I figured I could still use the shells because I sell hair clips and stuff like that at art fairs and what not :) except when I got to the lion paw at the bottom of the bag it was really beat up and dingy looking :( oh well (too bad I don't live anywhere warm)

I was looking at shells the other day. Of the two packages of large shells they had left on the shelf, each one had a broken shell in it. :( I, too, will have to continue looking.
