Mermaid Aurora

Part one.
You need:
2 lionspaw shells that about cover your breasts
3608
white oven-bake polymer clay
3609]
toothpicks
fake netting (I like this brand)
3610
old strapless bra (nude, if available)
3611
to make:
1. using the clay and toothpicks, make a sea creature/shells/starfish/barnacles. place them on the shells, shaping them to the curves of the shell. As you can see, I made an octopus and a starfish.
3612 3613
2. bake the clay (on the shells) according to the clay instructions.
3. cut the sides of your bra so you are left with the connected cups and the clasp.
4. use the gutted sides to measure the netting, and go a little bigger than the sides (because the sides are stretchy and the netting... not so much.)
5. find a thread that matches the colour of your bra.
3614
6. sew the netting to each side of the clasp. (this is just a picture of the clip side. no hook picture)
3615
7. sew the netting to each side of the bra, on the inside.
3616
8. See part two! (coming soon!)
Here's the finished bra(:
3607
SORRY FOR THE DELAY GUYS, I WAS REALLY BUSY AND DIDNT GET A CHANCE TO FIX THE POST UNTIL NOW. HERE YOU GO, ENJOY! XOX
PART TWO:
After I finished the bra (part one), I cut out two pieces of a swimsuit top that I no longer use. It was the white inside lining that I used.
4774
I glued this on using E6000 glue which is basically a god-send lol. I painted the fabric gold after the glue was dry, with DecoArt Glamour Dust, in "Gold Glitz".
4775
In the middle of the bra, to test the E6000, I glued a row of gold sequins along the bottom, to mimic fish scales. I like how it turned out.
4776
Also, to test the paints and sealants, I painted/sealed a shell and sewed it on.
4777
I used DecoArt Americana in "Milk Chocolate" and "Warm White" mixed together, then coated in a few layers of "Gold Glitz".
4778
I moved on to my clay next, painting the octopus.
4779
4780
I used DecoArt Americana in "Desert Turquoise", "Ocean Blue", and DecoArt Glamour Dust, in "Sapphire Blue". The eyes were "Gold Glitz" and black.
4781
The starfish was painted the same colors as the small shell.
4782
The small shell, starfish, octopus, and large shells were sealed with Gloss Mod Podge and Plastercraft Acrylic Gloss Spray finish.
4783
4784
Using the same netting from the side straps, I cut a pattern to get progressively smaller towards the end of the straps so I could tie them easily, and i sewed on the straps.
4785
I glued the scrap netting to the gold fabric in order to 'hide' it.
4786
I used the E6000 to glue on the shells and let them fully dry.
4787
I love it! It's waterproof, cute and fun. It was fairly easy to make and turned out well for a first try. If I did it again, I would have added some elastic somehow to make the sides stretchy. I'd also probably do a mold in silicon or latex for the octopus/starfish because the shells and clay are HEAVYYYY. I might venture towards that next(: enjoy, guys.
