It's amazing what you find at the good will

This morning I was talking with my mom an I told her that it is going to be hot today, an we do not have AC. So I said that my gf and I would like to go swimming when her brother got out of work. Well my mom said and pointed out to me that she didn't have a swim suit,so she said lets goto the good will to see what I can find if anything. So we went. While she was looking I found a shorty wetsuit, It was a large and I told her that I was going to try it on. Well I went in and put it on an WOW! It fit me like a glove. Then I proceded to tell my mother that I wanted it and was going to buy it, an so I did. When we got up to the cash out I had not looked at the price yet an when I did I just about fell over, it was only $10.00 an it still had the tag from the store where it came from. It was from LLbean an the price tag was also still on it, an it was $80.00. I just couldn't pass this up. Now I have an $80 dollar shorty wetsuit for $10 bucks. Somethings will always amaze me at times.

I just recently found a great suit jacket. I don't know if my saying it was nice even does it justice. Normally, most of them are huge and 30 years old, but this one looked like a new, modern cut suit jacket. It was from H&M, I think.

I hardly ever go to thrift stores to shop. Except for dresses, fancy dresses. Many high school girls after their proms, have really nice dresses that they give to goodwill, or other thrift stores, who sell them at deeply discounted prices. The interesting thing about thrift store dress hunting, for me, is that I've been to actual dress stores before, and none of the $100+ dresses looked as nice on me as the ones I've found at thrift stores for about $10 - $20 a dress! It amazing what you can find at these places!

Oh, man, I am a thrift store junkie!! The only clothes I haven't gotten at thrift stores in the last, I dunno, decade or so have been special gifts here and there, underwear, and some of my shoes. I get compliments on my clothes all the time, and when people ask where the clothes are from I always tell them that I got them on the cheap at a thrift store. I've actually had people say I shouldn't admit clothes are thrift store buys...something about keeping some facade that the clothes are "fancy" and expensive. But I think spreading the word about shopping at thrift stores is a great thing...it saves money, it cuts down on new resources (recycling people!), and it typically benefits some charity. It's also like a treasure hunt!!!

I've bought non-clothes stuff at thrift stores too (furniture, videos, knick-knacks, etc) but I'm a pack-rat trying not to be a pack rat so I have to use will power (or, Good-will power as it were...hee hee).

I was just walking past the jeans in my local Goodwill and a bit of embroidery caught my eye...I went to take a look and BLAM, mermaid jeans!!! Unfortunately, as often happens at thrift stores, the desired item was not quite my size, but I couldn't just leave them...so I cut the mermaid out (after buying the jeans of course) and patched it onto the back of a jean jacket I already had. Voila, a new mer jacket...just thought I'd share :)
