Finis Rapid or Sommap Hydra?

Hi all~


I've got a few questions on Monofins for Mermaiding.
But first I wanted to say that the community on this forum seems lovely. You all seem so kind and like a blast to hang out with too~ :D
My best friend an I would really love to finally get into Mermaiding together. Its kind of a dream we both share.
I've been doing some researching for us on Monofins.
I came down to the conclusion that the Finis Rapid and the Sommap Monofins looked really good. Sommap: http://www.sommap.com/en/palmes/f1-4-monofins)
We're looking for a fin that can really propel us in the water well. It'd be really fun to go speedy. I was originally looking at the Competitor, which looked awesome. But we'd have to get two, which would cap out to be pretty expensive for our current budget.
Does anyone have any other sejustions? Or feed back on the Sommap? I found one other member saying that it didnt propel in the water very well so I wasn't sure if we should buy those. Theyre very pretty though. xD

If you really like the shape of the sommap, but end up with the finis rapid you could always cut it :)

I probably will! I think what I'm most after is how the Fin functions more then how it looks sense I could cut it. So, you'd recommend the Rapid taking account the characteristics I said were important?

definately! I love my finis. It swims beautifully! I must warn you, however, I have never tried the sommap so I wouldn't be able to compare. :)

I'll most likely go with the Rapid. But I noticed that the Rapids shoe size comparison for womes size is 9-12. My shoe sizes an 8. Is that even going to fit correctly or will it be to big? Or should I go with the wave instead? >: The friend whos getting one with me is a size 8 1/2 with wider feet. Shell have her own fin so we wont be sharing. I want to get the right size so I dont make a mistake for the both of us.

I wear a womens 8.5 and I can wear a finis wave. If you decide to get a rapid and it ends up too big you can always get surk booties or latex socks to make it fit alittle better. And no problem sweetie :D
