I know there are a few of you out there mermaiding with the FINIS Competitor Monofin and I was wondering what you guys think of them? I tried one out a really long time ago (we're talking teens here haha!) and I remember thinking it was pretty rad, but I thought I'd get some feedback on how you all feel about your fins?

I guess not a lot of people here are using this particular monofin. I'm probably going to check it out anyway. Thanks!

just saw this thread, haha.
i know that theres another company that makes monofins almost exactly like the competitor, but less money. ive heard good reviews from them.

I know I like these monofins better than the competitor because along with being cheaper, they don't have the large rubber supports coming down from the foot pockets. They have Model 1, Model 2 and Model 3, and you get to choose the blade stiffness. So you can have a blade the size of the competitor, but softer and flowier, or stiffer and stronger. :)

Also, AniaR has a competitor monofin in her tail, maybe try getting ahold of her. I know she adores her fin.

it's in my silicone tail and I love it and find it the easiest and strongest monofin to use

So now here is another question... I know I'm full of them, but I'm a flipper user haha! I'm thinking the Water Way fin (Model1) looks pretty rad and the price is pretty friendly for sure. Anyone know the difference between the blade stiffness? I mean which stiffness is better for what? There's an email on that sites so I'll probably contact them, but I thought I'd check with you guys anyway! :)

The stiffer the fin, the larger the body of water. For example, the stiffest blade would be very good for deep water or currents where you need a lot of propulsion. You would want something much less stiff for a pool. I believe my waterway is a Model 1 and even it has a little bit of trouble turning in the pool because it is so strong.

Thanks for the info Mermaid Lorelei! That is definitely something to consider since most of my swimming is done in pools.
