Finally making my first (adult) tail...just fabric but with pretty paint on it

Hello everyone...I've been lurking here for a while but I'm finally de-lurking so I can post about my fabric tail that I'm making. I've had the fabric (blue swimsuit fabric) and the waterproof textile printing inks for a while so I'm finally actually putting it together. I have a Finis Rapid monofin that I've had for a couple years now and really love swimming with, so it will be awesome to FINALLY accomplish my lifelong dream of being a mermaid, haha. My mom made me a green and gold mermaid tail costume when I was in kindergarten, and after Halloween I had her sew up the bottom of the fluke so I could swim around in the pool with it on. I also have grand plans to make my own silicone mermaid tail at some point in the future, because I've been so inspired by everything I've seen and read on this forum. I'd really love to have a Raven tail as I think they're absolutely beautiful, but I love making my own things and the challenge of it has me really excited. Plus I'd just love to have my own unique design that is all mine that I have made all by myself! But until then, the spandex tail.

Let me see if I can figure out how to post pictures on here. Hmmm....

That's a close up of the scales. I've been freehanding them all because I prefer them to be slightly different sizes and shapes. I think it looks more natural.

Argh, I can't figure out how to make the pictures smaller. It doesn't seem to give me the option to do that *grumble grumble*

Anyway, please let me know what you think! I will try to post a better picture once I finish painting the scales.

Thanks, Mermaid Aqua! I'm almost finished with the first side (siiiiigh, then I get to flip it over and do it all again) so I'll post another picture soon.

And that cat sits on anything he can fit his rump on :P Spoiled brat. I love him.
