Bargain Tail

One of my mers-friends wants to make a tail for herself, only problem is she has $50 and can not spend anymore than that. We plan on buying a wave monofin and then getting it cut into a cresent shape, but fabric seems to be the issue. My friend isn't very tall so she would only need (i guess) 2 yards and she is not adding any fins or anything, but the cheapest fabric we can find is $8.00 at spandexworld ( http://spandexworld.com/c3/catalog/product/2636 ). We do not have any local craft stores that sell swimwear fabric. Please help, add any resources that you may have so she can be a mermaid too! ThanQ in advanced:D

I believe they're pink and purple. And I meant asking your parents. If you already have a tail, maybe they'll be okay with helping your friend get one. Especially since its a fabric tail, it's pretty cheap.

Is there anything that you and your friends could make and sell for money? For example, I make etched glass, and I've had people buy my glass. Making etched glass is a marketable skill. Perhaps you guys could make mermaid accessories? But that generally has the requirement of spending money, which you don't want to do. How about a good old fashioned koolaid stand? It's definately hot enough for that.

I was thinking about the kool-aid/lemonade stand, it is hot ;) The only other thing I can think of is she has TON of old beads and stuff that she likes to turn into earrings..do u think that could work?

Oh yeah. I used to sell beaded jewelry back in middle school. A lot of the teachers loved them, even bought a few from me. Then I would go door to door asking people if they would buy the jewelry if I made custom ones. Made probably 100 bucks off of it all.

Kids just love those things (i think its like faking the rave look thing or maybe it's the bright colors i don't really know) You don't have a joanns around? they're usually in every state( if you live in the u.s) and you can use a ton of coupons.

@Draggersprez: We don't live around any teens, sadly (old folks neighborhood mostly!) and I have a joanns, but they never carrying any of the things I have seen in other joanns :(

All of these ideas are pretty good, but I live in a quiet area (old folk's neighborhood mostly) and yard sales here have never worked for my mom. If I could just get a few things to sell on my etsy I would be willing to loan my friend the money...

You can just get regular swim flippers and duct tape the together and i advise waiting for a coupon for joanns

^ I tried this technique for a friend and, even with tons of e6000 glue and ductape, it failed miserably! I do not suggest trying this, but I apperciate you trying to help. I have already completed my other friend's tail on a budget and she only had to had 20 dollars extra :D we didn't do to bad!
